Can the Padres that played all season, you know the boys that I watched from left field show the eff up? What the hell?
Well, I tried, I really did. I lost my voice. I screamed, I clapped, I did what I could. Nada, nothing!
The Padres made Weaver look like Cy Young. They were his daddy when he was a Dodger. What the hell? Oh that's right, post season, the Padres forget how to effing hit.
I can't tell you how many Pads fans are disappointed right now. I came out of that park and EVERYONE questioined Bochy. His job is gone unless he wins the World Seiries. Him and KT did do a great job...for the most part but still made dumb decisions. I could see from the start that Peavy had attitude problems working with...oh is that a future HOFer catcher? YOU THINK HE EFFING KNOWS WHAT THE HELL HE IS DOING? PEAVY needs a serious attitude adjustment!!!!!!!!!!! So many here have noticed.
You do NOT EFFING SHOW UP your catcher no matter who they are. Boch should have had Bard and Peavy work together and Wells and Piazza. MP would have had no problem opening up the series in Game 2. He has only shown one thing... help the team.
We'll see... maybe this team will friggin pick it up on the road but I am so unhappy and disappinted that they can't take the oppty on National TV and show off. THEY ARE BETTER THAN THIS!!!! Effing bastards!

I am surprised....I can't beleive what I am seeing. I knew Carpenter and Pujols would show up...but I doubted the others. So far, Pujols really has been the difference offensively and I am not sure why they continue to give him opportunities with runners on base. I really do think they are better of walking him and taking their chances with Rolen and Edmonds...but just MHO.
I was suprised with Weaver, but then he only threw 76 pitches and I think the first sign of trouble he would have been lifted for Marquis early on...which in most cases is probably worse. I honestly thought going into this the Pad's would probably sweep because they beat the hell out of the Cardinals last week. Postseason is an enigma for sure....the Cardinals are playing great defense all of the sudden? WTH??
Last year they played crappy in the playoffs and great all season long, same with the year before...they get to the playoffs and I'm biting my nails off because they can't hit all of the sudden.....who knows! Hard to figure sometimes.....I am shocked and I feel for you guys big time...sorry Yags..I know how you feel right now :sigh:
They have a team....this Padres team could come here this weekend and take both games....I hope they don't of course...but if they did I would not be overly disappointed because my expectations of this Cardinal team are not as high as they have been in the two prior years.

I was listening to one of the Reds last games on the radio. Brenneman was talking about managers in trouble. He said he heard Bochy and the GM are gone at the end of the year. Just a rumor.

Okay, now that I am calmer and can think more rationally...eegads, I was :Pissed: :laff: I can try to explain about how things are here with Padre fans.
The Padres are shown on a local cable company's channel and there is no Fox Sports (well there is for LA area but not SD) so Extra Innings doesn't get home Padre games. Many people do not get to see the Padres play on a semi regular basis. The time difference sure has a lot to do with how media people miss seeing the Padres play and the local media is just as big as in LA or NYC or chicago. And people here have a different priority list, here they have SO MUCH to do, the weather is always great (it's really unbelievable) that people will consider doing other things than just going or watching Padre games. People do active things here, surf, horses, hiking, run/walk on the beach, among other things. They have other interests and are not singularly focussed. It's a different mindset.
So when the Padres are shown on TV nationally and at a reasonable time, it's excruciating for me to see basically another team show up and lose. This is the team that lost first place in August after playing the Mets in NY and this is NOT the team that has played all season. But because they show poor defense and lack of hitting on national TV, naturally people assume that this is what the Padres have played like and draw conclusions that the NL West is a lousy division.
That is what bothers me the most, because it's just not true.
And if there is recognition for West Coast teams it's either Barry Bonds or the Dodgers. So Padre fans are made to feel nonexistent and inferior. It's very frustrating.
Anyway, the Cardinals are playing great ball.
Oh and the KT and Boch era will be over for sure. We all knew that, it's because Sandy Alderson wants to put his management team in place. I don't like Alderson or how he goes about his business. He's very sneaky. And I do think that KT is one of the more talented GMs out there. Will be interesting to see who snatches him up first. :D
It's not over yet... the Pads are a good road team and with Young and Woody going, I do feel pretty good. Let's see if the bats come alive now that the boys aren't home. :hmm:

Yeah, my sister and her family live out there and I know what you mean about the mindset. Not many people are overly obsessive about anything out there because (like you said), there are so many outlets to channel their energy. My nephew lives on the beach in San Diego and is huge into surfing, likes baseball and used to love it as a kid (during the Larussa A's era) but now has so much going all the time he does not seem to care one way or another about baseball.
I can see what your thinking is there and understand it (partailly because I have visited many times). I know your right about this team because I have watched them some over the course of this year.
Here in STL it is quite a different climate (both figuratively and physically) than it is in San Diego. People here are very focused on the Cardinals almost year round, even when the season is over there is enough speculation about what they will do next to keep that focus going. This team has had some of the most painful ups and downs of any team I can remember in recent history. Obviously the injuries have dealt a heavy blow, but that is almost a given for a baseball season in any league, what's worse is that these guys seem to forget how to play the game from time to time all together....and that is not something we are accumstomed to here in STL.
The way they have played in the last two games is really what was expected of them from spring training, unfortunately, we have only seen glimpses of that team. Weaver, well that's an enigma all to itself, same as Marquis, who knows with those guys....I really hope to God that Marquis is gone next year. Marquis won't listen to the coaching staff, instead he tries to throw his 89 mile an hour fastball by hitters like it's 100 miles an hour...he's a complete moron! Weaver, well, he seems to at least listen to what Duncan is telling him and I think that shows since he has been here.
I still think this Padre team is a better team than the Cardinals have from top to bottom. Of course we all know, great pitching will always win out in the end. Hang in there Yags...the fat lady hasn't sung yet :)
