Here it is... What could be one of the guys that stuck with the Twins his whole time in the big leagues last game. He suits up for Game 3 of the ALDS today. A must win for the Twins and Radke who doesnt want this to be his last game. He must be the stopper and even more so the Twins MUST get some runs. The pitching for the Twins these last couple of games has been there. Good enough for them to win but there batting hasnt been there. If they get that going then we should start to see some wins come in for now they got to win out with the A's if they expect to get to the next step here.......

Brad Radke, RHP
Grinding through a season took on a new meaning when it came to Radke (12-9, 4.32 ERA) this year. Knowing this could be his final season, Radke pitched most of the season with a stress fracture in his right shoulder socket, and even after learning of the injury the pitcher fought back to return. Radke no longer has the velocity he had before and must rely on hitting his spots. But it's hard to find a pitcher with more heart than the 12-year Twins veteran and with his history of success, Radke's presence would be a huge boost to the club.

Dan Haren, RHP
In his second full season as a starter, Haren (14-13, 4.12 ERA) was marred by inconsistency, but he put together plenty of big performances under pressure to suggest he's capable of shining on the big stage of October. On Mother's Day at Yankee Stadium he threw a shutout to help the A's prevent a three-game sweep, and his eight-inning gem at Minnesota in September was lauded by manager Ken Macha as Oakland's most impressive start of the season. Haren is not stranger to the playoffs, either. He was with the Cardinals as a rookie in 2004, appearing in five games out of the bullpen and posting a 2.16 ERA over 8 1/3 innings.

While Santana could end up pitching Game 4 on short rest, the Twins must rely on Brad Radke on Friday. The veteran right-hander has pitched only once since Aug. 25 and is nursing a torn labrum and broken shoulder socket.

Even with those injuries, Radke pitched well for the Twins after a terrible start to the season. He went 4-7 with a 6.42 ERA in his first 12 starts, but since losing to Oakland on June 3, Radke has gone 8-2 with a 2.79 ERA in 16 outings.

His only start in the past month came on Sept. 28, when he allowed an unearned run and three hits in five innings of Minnesota's 2-1, 10-inning win over Kansas City.

He was 1-1 with a 3.21 ERA in two starts against the A's this season, and is 8-12 with a 3.81 ERA in 26 career starts against them.

Radke's only two career postseason victories both came against Oakland in the 2002 ALDS, allowing two earned runs in 11 2-3 innings. He is 0-2 with a 4.19 ERA in his other three playoff starts.

Dan Haren makes his first playoff start for Oakland in Game 3, attempting to put a disappointing end to the regular season behind him.

The right-hander went 8-2 with a 3.33 ERA from July 26-Sept. 13, beating Minnesota to close that stretch as he allowed three hits in eight innings of a 1-0 victory. In his final three starts of the season, however, Haren went 0-2 with an 8.10 ERA, allowing 16 runs in 16 2-3 innings.

He's thrown 15 consecutive scoreless innings versus the Twins, and is 2-2
Haren is 1-0 with a 2.16 ERA in five playoff games, all as a reliever for St. Louis in 2004.

I think they can to Nancy!!!!!!

They get Radke out on the mound today. The team knows he is out there on GUTS alone and that they are going to have to put as much into as he does. Get that mind set along with them back against the wall. Throw in Santana for game 4 (From what I have seen the Twins have not said who will start game 4 but I believe they have to throw Santana out there if they win today) get a win there and you are all knotted up going back home for game 5. One win today and it will throw some hope in the Twins and fans big time and hurt the A's I feel with the past history of them fall off seeing Santana walking out there and if that is a win going back to the dome!

A's complete the sweep.

What an awful exit for the Twins after such a great season. Also, a disappointing exit for Brad Radke and his career. Still, got to hand it to the A's playing tough and taking care of business.

Ya the A's played there ass off alll though the whole thing.
Hate to see Radke go. Would love to see him come back for a couple of more years so he could pitch in the new park.

This is the first time in a long time that the outcome of a game has affected me so much :(

I keep wondering if the Twins don't win the division does the 'comeback' flame never go away? Seems that when the Twins were on the tear Hunter makes that catch going all out, Hunter gets called safe at the plate, no errors are committed, and Reyes keeps his season low 0.89 ERA going through the playoffs. I am sure there are more, but I guess what I am getting at is the tough games the last couple of months the Twins found themselves in that 'next step' in igniting a rally would always show up.

Did getting home field advantage for the first series do more damage than good, perhaps making them too 'comfortable' when they might have been looking ahead to hitting the road?

Just some questions that ran through my head tonight at the gym since I decided that was better than getting drunk and passing out :D

yep, but could he ever really pitch effectively again after surgery? probably not. labrum surgery is terrible to come back from. not to mention the stress fracture.

I think people forgot about the depth the A's rotation had heading into the playoff. My biggest question were they just a streaky team or were they for real. At the moment, they look for real. Man, just imagine that the Twins could have had the Big Hurt on their team during the off-season.

I never expected him to make the impact he did.

My apologies to the Twins. Probably jinxed them and the Padres when I decided to root for those teams in the postseason just to screw with the networls. Sent too many negative waves out.

Great season, and sorry it ended like that. I'll have no trouble rooting for the Tigers-Yankees winner to win the ALCS.

Sorry to see Radke go out in that fashion. The guy deserved better. He will bre sorely missed in the Twins rotation.

Also, congratulations on a great season.a year where niot many people picked the Twins to finish higher than 3rd in the AL Central, but they showed us a lot this season, coming back from the dead in July and August and not letting up.

I see this team as a very legitimate WS threat for the rest of the decade.

Congrats again on a fine season.
