:duh: :duh: :duh:
Whodda thunk an actual LEAD in a postseason game for the Padres! You can blow me over with a feather.
Now, maybe people can enjoy this kid's pitching performance. Chris Young made his major league debut in Fenway and it's captured in the movie "Fever Pitch" starring Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon. CY has been brilliant this season and is a joy to watch. Nice kid too.
The Dr is doing a brilliant job leading off. Love Davey!!! 3 hits already and it's only the 5th!

Okay, as soon as I put on my NL East Division Champs Mets shirt, the Pads went ahead. Go figure :duh:
Hey, Let's go Mets (maybe that will help too) :laff:

Top 5th, 3-0 Pads
first and third, 1 out. Piazza is up. Pitching change. Out goes Suppan, in comes John Hancock. Who is this guy? Then again, I don't know the Cards bullpen at all.
Let's go Mets! Let's go Mets! Let's go Mets! It's not like Mike hasn't heard that before :laff:

Pizza boy strikes out. He is just sucking today.
The Padres might win in spite of him playing.
Come on Gonzalez!!!

Cameron strikes out with bases loaded to end the inning.
Let's go Young! :cheer: :jump:

Bloomie :cheer: Bloomie :cheer: Bloomie :cheer:
I just :love2: him. He always finds a way to come through.
6th inning, 2 outs, and top of the order up. Come on DR! :clap2:

Bottom 6th, 3-0 Pads ahead.
They keep getting on base and they keep getting out. They should be up by 7 or 8 runs by now. But on the positive, they broke through.
CY will come through. I do believe in him and Woody and that really wonderful pitching staff. :cheer: :jump:

Defensive change - Khalill Greene in at SS, move Bloomie over to third and Branyan is out of the game. Yeah Boch, take the guy who came in the clutch for you out of the game. :duh: THAT's clever.
Branyan has really improved since last year as a Brewer. I am really happy to see him doing well. Greenie though, man, he can some kinda shortstop!

Geeze that pest Eckstein on base again!
Eck is GOOD. I love him, I do. But he is such a pest when your team plays against him. One out, one on, Pujols could come up again with men on base.
Come on CY! :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

Eckstein on second, Duncan (pitching coach's son) walks - nice at bat for him and Pujols up with one out.
He could tie it. Boch leaves CY in there. This is scary now.

How the bleep can Pujols hit with that kind of stance? :duh:
yagsy
10-07-2006, 04:29 PM
BRILLIANT
Pujols strikes out. :Wow:
Edmonds scares me and rightfully so. THANK YOU DAVEY! What a catch! Man, that ball carried.

Top 7th, 3-0 Pads still ahead
Pizza boy lumbers to second on a ball to deep right. FINALLY! He's staying in the game. :Wow: I like the move.
One out, Giles quickly tapped a ball and grounded out.
AG - the brilliant first baseman. I hope he gets a Gold Glove this season, he's been unbelievable.

There was this great shot of Cameron sitting on the fence near the on deck circle and chatting with a fan. :laff: Figures. He's so dang cute!!!! He's one of my favorite ball players, has been since he was on the Reds. :cheer:
Gonzalez draws a walk (nice AB) and now a pitching change.
Still one out. First and second. Cameron up :clap2:

10-07-2006, 04:41 PM
Braden Looper? :Wow: Two former teammates with another on 2nd.
Cameron hit it hard to left but Duncan caught it.
It's a Mets themed inning. :laff: Still got my shirt on...it's very lucky for the Padres. :clap2:

Okay, Pads go down.
Wow, Piazza just made a great catch on a popup. Nasty popup coz he didn't know where the ball was, the sun in the way (no sunglasses) and on the edge of the shadows. So difficult. Rolen started that AB trying to bunt? :duh:
Chris Young still in there but I know that Meredith will be in soon. The Pads bullpen really is just spectacular. :clap2:
yagsy
10-07-2006, 04:54 PM
Young gets through Rolen and Encarnacion easily but then that pest Belliard gets a double. ARGH!
Now Spezio is going to come out.
CY is gone. JUST FRIGGIN BRILLIANT
NOW Boch takes out Pizza boy? Well okay, Bard in for Pizza boy and then Embree comes in for Young.
2 outs, Belliard on second. Spezio to face Embree.

:love2: Alan Embree
Strikes out Spezio ... that Padre bullpen ICE

As per usual, Bard contributes again with his hitting. He's supposed to be the "defensive" replacement. That trade that brought Meredith and Josh Bard to the Padres in May for ungrateful troublemaker, Mirabelli has been one of the most incredible trades KT has done.
Bard on 2nd, Walker up, two outs. Top 8th.

10-07-2006, 05:16 PM
Liney now out there. Taguchi leading off the inning and hits a HR? Oh no! There goes the shutout. :duh:
Liney can be good but he does sometimes give it up...at least this season.
3-1 now. AT least Boch saved Meredith in the pen. Just in case.... I still love Liney though.

Taking a quick break for lunch.
Come on Liney :clap2: :clap2: :clap2:

10-07-2006, 05:23 PM
Okay this is worth interruption.
Liney gets Pujols to ground into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.
:woohoo
Top 9th and a correction - Rob Bowen in as catcher instead of Bard. Eh, same player, great defense, great calling, both switch hitters.
And Bowen makes a fabulous dirty martini. :laff:

Top 9th, Barfield pinch hitting, walks
Gonzalez gets a hit and with Cameron as the next hitter, LaRussa goes to his pen for the 6th time today.
No outs.
