It was awesome! I loved how they included the fans, and I loved how they carried the skip away and I loved how skip kissed the fan. PMG what a night! Hell I even seen skip smile!!

That was honestly great seeing them get the fans involved.
I also liked the guy who tried to go up and kiss Leyland when he was giving his granddaughters kisses.
Yep, everyone loved the fact the Tigers involved the fans in the celebration. I know I did. It's like they won the WS when you were looking at them celebrating.

Yeah, after all the losing, that team and their fans deserved this!!!

I don't know whats better, knocking (probably) the Yankees dynasty out of the water, or the Pistons doing it to the Lakers a few years ago.

I thought it was nice that Rogers took the time to spray fans with CHAMPAGNE.

I know I am probably the only one here... but I think that it was excessive... and a bit crazy... This was the ALDS... not the world series... and not the ALCS... It seemed almost like a team which was settling for just being there... and being satisfied with what they have accomplished. I wouldnt be surprised to see them come out flat against the A's... And hope that they do.... but only because the A's have been my "addicts team to win it all" now for the past 5 years... .haha.

Well if you had not been to a playoff game in 19 years and then you won the first series, you would celebrate like that too. Saturday was a magical day for us!

I agree, they should of just walked in the locker room, got changed and showered, went home and went right to bed. :hmm:

I didnt say that .... but let me ask you this.... if they were to win the WS, how do you possibly top a celebration like that?? I guess I am just a huge believer in the "been there... done that... " approach to celebrating.

The only difference between theirs and anyone elses is that they got the fans involved. I understand what your saying, i just didn't have a problem with it. I loved it. If it was against Oakland in the first round and they were favored, i don't think it would of been as big.

thats sort of the issue I have with it, though, too... who cares who the opponent was?? It was just the first round... still 2 more to go...

jen.. there is nothing being an ass about the fact that I disagree with people. It is taking nothing away from the tigers... and I have enjoyed their season... I just dont buy into the whole Yankee Mystique... I dont think this is any bigger of a series win than it would have been playing against any other team in the ALDS... i also hope that they do not have a let down, because I want to see a good ALCS... Has nothing to do with being an ass at all.. I just think it was excessive... Isnt this message board a place for one to post their opinions?? I posted mine... it doesnt agree with the majority, but how the **** does that make me an ass??
I am also pretty sure that this isnt the farthest they have ever gone. Something tells me that a World Series victory is further than winning the ALDS... I could be wrong, t hough... I was once.

I agree 100% with you on this. I do understand the exultation with winning the ALDS, but there is still work to be done. You have to take care of business with the A's and then the Cardinals in a rematch of the 1968 Series.;) Just beating the Yankees ain't nuthin', hell everybody beats them these days. Celebrating on that scale is for when you accomplish what you set out to accomplish. I'm looking forward to seeing the party after Game 6 of the World Series.

If you could read, I said farthest they have ever gone in 20 years. And you can post your opinon all you want, but I know and YOU know that if the roles were reversed and it's Pitsburg instead of the Tigers you would be celebrating as much as we are. I retract the ass comment - but what I meant is that I think you disagree sometimes purely out of spite and for the sake of an argument.

It's not that we're pissed off, it's that you people don't understand. I could give crap if we beat the Yankees or the Royals or anyone else in between. It's the fact that we have proved everyone wrong and moved on when they ALL said that we didn't have a snowballs chance in hell of even making it to the play offs.

If you could read, you would see that you said "IT IS THE FARTHEST THEY HAVE EVER GONE!!"
that is a direct quote.. from you and your keyboard...
and no.. if the roles were reversed, I would still think it was excessive... even if it was Pittsburgh... Hell, i got annoyed at the game last weekend because everyone was going nuts over a batting title.... and celebrating like Pittsburgh had just won the world series.
It has nothing to do with anything except for thinking it was too much.

Jen... you said it is the farthest they have ever gotten... AND the best season in 2 decades... which means you are making 2 seperate statements when you seperate them with the word "and."
If you said it was the farthest they have gotten in 2 decades.. that would be one thing... but you didnt.

...and then the Cardinals in a rematch of the 1968 Series ;)Be careful about separating your train of thought with the word 'and,' Toy ;)
But that '68 Series was a GREAT one, wasn't it? Man, oh man, does that take me back. But I could be happy with either the Cardinals or the Mets against the Tigers in this one.
Good luck, Detroit :wave1:

Congrats Tigers! Loved the celebration. It was entirely anti-Yankee which is the point. The Yankees have sticks shoved so far up their asses now they don't know how to celebrate.
This was for the fans who have waited so long. Good for them.

I heard Boston celebrated almost as much as Detroit did when they won the series.
And that celebration really seemed to hurt the Tigers last night.

We celebrated even more. Derek Lowe, Jason Varitek, Trot Nixon, etc...poured drinks at local bars still in uniform.:) That was just for making the playoffs.
