LOS ANGELES – The Dodgers won't be the last team the Mets push around this postseason.

lol.....they sound pretty sure they will win...don't forget anything can happen in these series :) I honestly do not think the Cardinals can beat this team, but I sure did not think the Astros could beat the Cards last year, and I really thought the World Series would go to seven games in 2004. In the playoffs....anything can happen! Anything!

BTW...Congrats Met's fans!

Not a bad article, but I don't want any jinxes!! That's why we play the game.

"I think it’s just a microcosm of our year," Wright, the Mets' third baseman, said of the victory. "We fell behind in the middle of the game, and to be able to claw back and to be able to fight the way that we did, it just shows the heart and the character of this team. We’ve been doing it all year. It doesn’t matter how many we’re down. It doesn’t matter what’s the situation in the game. We’re confident that we’re going to win."

Their lineup might not be a Murderer’s Row, but it’s capable of manslaughter. Carlos Delgado, Paul Lo Duca, David Wright and Carlos Beltran – watch them pound out hits and soon enough you’ll forget about the team’s suspect starting pitching.

This is my favorite line!

But I agree....I don't want any jinxes, sounds too arrogant to me

I liked that manslaughter line too. :D

They should be confident.. They won the most games in baseball this year and swept the 1st round of the playoffs vs a hot team going in...

Big difference between confident and cocky... I am confident we will beat St. Louis and get to the WS but I am not cocky about it.. I fear the Cards jsut as much as any other team... Hell, they have the best player in the game on their team... Not so much a diss on any other team, just more confidence in mine:)

I would assume the players feel kinda the same way...

Dodgers weren't very hot actually. Thats why they lost a 4 game lead in their division to the Padres, but I know what you mean. I think the Mets will probably go to the WS as well. Good overall team.

Good luck and I hope my A's can meet you there.

Dodgers won 9 of their last 10 games and 7 in a row going into the series with the Mets:notme:

Agreed. I just worry that if I am too externally confident, I will somehow jinx the Mets.

Internally, I have amazingly good feelings--all I am thinking about is October baseball, goosebumps and all, waiting, wishing...

Positve vibes, good karma, mojo risin'

I don't think anyone is getting cocky but I do think that the Cardinals were in exactly the same place ther Met's are this year for two years in a row...I think the Cardinals won more games than the Met's did in 2004. I really did not think the Cardinals would get swept by the Red Sox in 2004 but they did, and I did not think the Astros would beat the Cards in 05... but again...they did. Did anyone pick the Tigers to win over the Yanks this year? Not to diss the Tigers (great team), but my God...the Yanks are an offensive juggernaut the likes of which maybe no team in the history of the game has ever assembled.......am I wrong there??!!

I have watched these series year after year, and the only thing that can be counted on in the playoffs is that they will start with four teams in both leagues and widdle down to two.....and then one. Sometimes guys thrive in the playoffs sometimes they don't, teams get to the playoffs and sometimes have significant injuries that prevent them from acheiving the ultimate. I know that sounds rather cliche and somewhat non-committal, but that is the truth as I know it.....and by God...I'm stickin to it...:)

Hey, you are absolutely right... Thats why they play the game:)

Cards looked HORRIBLE, limping into the playoffs and the Pads played decent going in and the Cards pretty much kicked their butts!

Cards have a lot of vets who have been in the playoffs before so they in no way should be taken lightly!

Whoa, I just used that same line in the Why I hate the Yankees thread! I swear I hadn't read your comments first!!! lol!! Great minds do think alike!

The Mets definitely are confident. But I'm pretty sure they still have it fresh in their minds what it's like to lose, so that will keep them grounded. But St Louis knows all to well what it's like to lose when you've come so far.

Pitcher for pitcher, bat for bat, the teams are not too dissimilar. So it should be a very good series. But I think the Mets are hungrier and more energized, so that will ultimately make them victorious.
