MIAMI -- Andy Fox singled home the tiebreaking run with two outs in the eighth inning, and the Florida Marlins bounced back after blowing a four-run lead to beat the Philadelphia Phillies 8-7 Thursday night.
The Marlins overcame a 3-0 deficit and led 7-3 before the Phillies scored four times in the eighth to tie the game.
Cliff Floyd was hit on the foot by a breaking pitch from Ricky Bottalico (0-1) leading off the eighth, then advanced on a passed ball by Mike Lieberthal. Following a flyout and groundout, Fox grounded the first pitch through the infield to score Floyd from third.
Vladimir Nunez (2-0) blew a save in the eighth, allowing two hits and the tying run, then pitched a perfect ninth.
Both teams had trouble holding leads in the series. Florida trailed 6-0 Tuesday but won, helped by Fox's three-run homer. Philadelphia overcame a 5-1 deficit to win Wednesday.
This time Florida rallied from a 3-0 deficit with four runs in the fourth, including a two-run homer by Floyd, his fourth.
Jimmy Rollins started Philadelphia's comeback in the eighth with a leadoff single against Michael Tejera. Marlon Anderson singled and a double steal advanced the runners.
Bobby Abreu hit a two-run single, then scored when Vladimir Nunez gave up a triple by Scott Rolen that Eric Owens nearly caught on the run in deep right-center field. Travis Lee's sacrifice fly with one out tied the score.
Florida's latest bullpen collapse cost rookie Josh Beckett his first win of the season. Beckett, hampered by a blister on his index finger for the second start in a row, left for a pinch hitter with a 4-3 lead after throwing 76 pitches in five innings. He allowed four hits and three runs.
Robert Person faced the minimum of batters before the Marlins got four consecutive hits in the fourth inning, three for extra bases. Luis Castillo singled leading off for Florida's first hit and scored on Eric Owens' double. Preston Wilson also doubled, and Floyd's fourth homer put the Marlins ahead 4-3.
They added three runs in the eighth to make it 7-3. Derrek Lee tripled off Jose Santiago and scored on Mike Redmond's single. Pinch-hitter Tim Raines walked, Luis Castillo hit into a forceout and Redmond scored from third on Owens' two-out infield hit. Castillo then scored on a wild pitch by Cliff Politte.
The Phils scored twice in the first after Beckett retired the first two batters. Abreu walked, stole second and scored on Rolen's double. Lieberthal followed with an RBI double.
Rolen led off the fourth with a single, took second on a flyout and scored on Pat Burrell's two-out single to put the Phils up 3-0.
The Marlins improved to 8-17 the past two seasons against the Phillies.
Notes:@ Phils CF Doug Glanville robbed Wilson and Owens of hits. ... Since last season the Marlins are 2-12 against Philadelphia when reliever Braden Looper pitches. He took the loss Wednesday and has a 6.66 ERA in 25 2-3 innings against the Phils. ... Florida C Charles Johnson, who has been sidelined by a sore left thumb, pinch-hit for Beckett and flied out. Johnson is 0-for-8 this season. ... Phillies pitchers are 1-for-29 at the plate. ... Rollins was 0-for-14 against left-handers before he singled off Tejera.
