View Full Version : Dallas is still my superbowl pick

I still believe they're too good to be over-looked. I think Philly, and Daunte will dwindle. Seattle will get injured. Chicago will come close, but not make it all the way.

So they're 2-2 now. I'm picking them to start getting it together starting this week. They've been doing great even if they have lost 2 games.

The difficult games they have left are: Indy, carolina, philly, and the giants twice. The rest are 100% certain wins imo. So say they go 3-2 in those 5 'difficult' games. They still finish 12-4 for the season, and that's good enough to win the division and get a first week bye in the post-season.

I'm not picking them to win the superbowl. I hate to pick a superbowl winner. I just like picking super bowl teams. Cowboys-Bengals was my preseason pick.

Royce I hope your 'boys do good.

My boys'? I hope you're not talking about the Cowboys cause I hate them, I assume you're talking about the Giants?

well anyways thank god dallas proved me right yesterday. T.O. with 3 touchdown catches.................how about that?

And the defense held Houston to 6 points.

Yes............I know they played Houston.

Gee what an easy pick.

They are not even close to being a Super Bowl contender. Why? QB Drew Bledsoe has seen his better days. This guy can not get out of the way when the opposing DL is on his butt. Bledsoe ranks 25th among all QB's in QB rating at 70.4.

Their best offensive weapons are RB Julius Jones and WR Terry Glenn. Jones ranks sixth overall in rushing yards with 494. Glenn ranks 26th overall with 337 receiving yards. Their offense ranks seventh overall in the NFL. Not bad, but not good enough to beat real good teams.

No way this team makes it past the first round of the playoffs if they make the playoffs.:wave1:

P.S. They will lose three of those four games u mentioned above.

oh please..................

Dilfer was an awesome qb for baltimore in 2000, right?

end of discussion.

Who's that guy T.O. I've been hearing about?

well the dallas defense is definitely super-bowl caliber if it stays healthy. The dallas offense will only get better with the more time Bledsoe, and TO get together.

In fact I predict a 56-0 blowout win against Philly at the rematch in Dallas.

On a side note, I must say Roy Williams is the cheapest player in the NFL.

Im not saying that bad QBs havent won the Super Bowl. BUT, how can you compare winning with the team baltimore had around Trent Dilfer and winning with Drew Bledsoe on that team they have in Dallas right now?

You may or may not be right about them reaching the Super Bowl, but Dilfer played in a system which took zero chances... and relied on the running game and the defense to win football games. Dallas is exactly the opposite of that.

Dallas is 3rd overall in run yards per game, and 6th in total defense. I think you just got your foot in your mouth so I'll forgive you.

Im not saying that they dont.. and am aware of th efact that they are... but you arent seeing the difference. Diler was the classic "game managing" QB... he didnt turn the ball over. Especially in cruciasl situations near the ends of games. Bledsoe is notorious for that and has done it already several times this season.

6th in total defense is also a lot different than being #1 in points allowed as the Ravens were. The way that the NFL ranks defenses is bullshit.

DWard are u taking narcotics? 56-0? As for TO-three TD's against Houston-Awesome!

Some retard Cowboys fan who had the most biased point of view and claimed to have been shot 9 times.

I meant it to be somewhat humorous. Basically i'm just saying that I expect Dallas to win in a blow-out. lol.

If you're a big fan of Trent Dilfer then fine, but you're the only one I know of. :notme: His TD/Int ratio in the 6 seasons before he joined Baltimore was 82/80. That's an average of more then 13 picks a year(he threw 12 picks and only 11 touchdowns the year with baltimore too). Not much different from Bledsoe's average of 14 going into this season. Not to mention he threw for close to 500 attempts the 3 seasons before which, btw, 'game managing' qb's don't throw that often.

I never saw anything 'classic' about Dilfer's game.

I'm aware of the media's perception on Bledsoe, but you can't listen to everything they say. Bledsoe is throwing less in his first year with Dallas. I kindof wonder if he's ever been on a team that's had a rushing game as good as this(not saying it's great).

seriously........how else can the nfl rate a defense other then yards allowed, and points allowed?

imgreat95
10-19-2006, 04:27 PM
they dont rate it as points allowed... they rate it as yards allowed....

I am not talking about DIlfer in any other season besides the 2000 season. He was a different QB in that season than what he has ever been before.

Dward00 babe this Dallas in the SB ain't looking too good.:( Christ I cringed watching Drew last night. I hate to say it, but he may need to hang em up.

See, the knock on him in NE was just that, you had to surround him with top tier offensive talent for him to be effective. Belichick hated that. Lots of people don't know, but before Drew took that Mo Lewis hit, that was his last game anyways. Brady had worked his ass off, and Belly wanted to try him out.

It proved to be the right decision. I mean, Drew just stands there. I'm screaming, GET OUTTA OF THE WAY! ROLL LEFT! ANYTHING! Alas, the poor lad just takes sack after sack.:(

Btw, Romo didn't exactly light it up either, but what a tough situation to come into.

Dallas superbowl???? ha....although i still don't think the gmen are gonna get there i can almost guarantee that the cowboys will definitely NOT be there...QB controversies are never a good thing

I halfway agree. Everyone said the same thing in NE. Brady made it work. His O-line isn't great, but it's not forcing him to throw those ridiculous INT's. I'm not bashing the guy but geez, he's been doing this long enough. He should have a better grip on reads by now.

you would think so after 14 years!

some of the sacks (i.e. the one leading to the safety) were offensive line orientated and a couple were due to hanging on to the ball too long.

Drew's better days are behind him, thats for sure.

ya i know. i was halfway believeing Parcells when he said there wasn't a controversy. my bad. parcells is a liar!! :ugh:

Besides if you take out like 3 of Bledsoe's worst plays then you're looking at a 5-1 team. I guess I was hoping Terry Glenn, and Terrell Owens would make him look good.

Dward00
11-05-2006, 10:21 AM
Well maybe it isn't over. Romo really is playing Bradyesque, and the other players love him. I think I'm going to back out of the superbowl prediction until i see more of him playing, but wouldn't it be cool if he pulls out a roethlisburger and wins the rest of the seasons games?

T.O. supports him. That might mean something good.

Well they've certainly been a teaser that's for sure. That's at least 5 steps above what miami did this year. They didn't even graduate to the teaser position.

P.S. Gad somebody should just rename this the official 2006 dallas cowboys thread

With three wins in Romo's four starts, the Cowboys are two games over .500 for the first time all season. Four of the remaining six games are at home and the rest of the division is ailing, leaving Dallas in prime position for a big finish.

hmmm
