Tom Glavine a no-show at his annual golf weekend with Greg Maddux and John Smoltz
Tom Glavine failed to show up on Friday in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, for his annual mid-October golf weekend with Greg Maddux and John Smoltz, say his former Atlanta Braves teammates.
Maddux and Smoltz expressed disappointment in their longtime friend.
“I can’t imagine he forgot about it,” said Maddux. “We’ve had a golf weekend every year since the mid-90s. It’s always one week after the end of the regular season when we’re done playing. I don’t know what happened.”
Smoltz said he fears his former teammate is in some sort of danger.
“I called his wife to see if she knew where he was and she told me he was playing in the NLCS with the Mets,” said Smoltz. “That sounded like some sort of cover story to me – Tommy having success late into October? With the Mets of all teams? So I called the cops on her because I fear she may have killed him in an argument or something.”
