Shocking, I tell you, just shocking to see the Cardinals get a win in the Series right out of the gate. :wave1:

Who knew Reyes was THAT good.
Verlander was kind of wild last night. His curve was still knee buckling, but he couldn't get much over the plate.

Oh trust me, I speak for most of the St. Louis nation when I say I'm SHOCKED Reyes did that well. Unbelievable.
GO CARDINALS GO!

He shut out the Chicago White Sox to one hit (a home run to Thome).

Not sure why everybody is "shocked". They just beat the Met's and Pad's didn't they? Detroit is the obvious favorite here, but the Cardinals have not been favored since day one of the playoffs...heck I did not pick them and their my team! At this point, I am not surprised at anything the Cardinals do...who knows what they will do next!

The Title of this thread was meant to be sarcastic. I said in the Yankee forum that I would be shocked if the Cards won one game. I think it was a jab at me and others who thought the AL was a better league this year.:)
Either way, it was meant to be sarcastic. No one here but me is surprised. I, however am a good sport, and have no issue admitting I was wrong. Nice win for your Cards.

To be sure....I have made it plain as day that I had absolutley no confindence in this team going into the post season....that said, I don't think anyone can take what they have done as a fluke. I did not catch the sarcasm but I was not offended either, I understand where everyone is coming from and while I may or may not agree...I rarely (I won't say never) get offended by it.
It's hard to say whether or not the AL is stronger than the NL....but the AL has wiped the floor with the NL recently in both world series games and all-star games, plus inter league play this year.

Just a disclaimer before I post here, I mean no harm :)
That being said, the Tigers had just had 7 days to rest, I think they were just knocking off some rust Saturday night. Take a look at the Yankee series, they looked terrible that first game and then came back and dominated the rest of the series. They looked the same on Saturday and I think we're looking at the same type of situation here.
again, I mean no harm, just my honest opinion

Well...lol...and I mean no harm when I say I think the Cardinals just might beat your tigers....The Cardinals were just getting warmed up for the Postseason..now they are just hitting their stride :) I guess we'll see what will happen won't we, I am ok with them losing and I'll tell you why, no one including myself ever thought they would get this far....so anything from here on out is just bonus. It just kills me though how people are looking at this, we have an eight time gold glover in center, a seven time gold glover and maybe the best third baseman in the history of them game, Albert Pujols, argueabley the best player to ever lace the shoes...No one gives these guys any respect, and you know what, I think that's exactly why they are winning...to gain respect! So we'll see :)

I think you're cards have a hell of a lot more respect than you think they do, certainly more than the Tigers do. I believe that we have a lot more to prove than your team. No one gives us any credit, nor do they give us any faith. I mean here we are in game 3 of the World Series (granted we look terrible tonight) and we're still the butt of everyone's joke and a laughing stock amongst the baseball world - even in our very own home town. It sickens me to be honest.
