Finally a good bit of news for Padres fans.
The Padres signed super-utility player Geoff Blum to a one-year deal worth $900,000 with incentives that could make it worth up to $1.1 million dollars. Blum had reportedly been close to a deal with the New York Yankees and the Pittsburgh Pirates were aggressive in their pursuit as well.
In 2006, the versatile Blum batted .254 with four home runs and 34 RBI in 109 games. He spent the majority of the season at shortstop in place of the oft-injured Khalil Greene as well as 3B, 2B and 1B. Blum stopped by with Scott and BR to say he is glad to be back.
