The Cubs just inked P Ted Lilly for 4-years at $40 million.

Lilly was 15-13 with a very respectable 4.31 ERA for Toronto last season.

eh, im not really happy with the decision, but he IS better than most of our rotation last year.

Ho hum. Seems like a lateral move to me. Doesn't make the Cubs much better, doesn't make them much worse. That 1.43 WHIP is atrocious and I fear the longballs he'll give up in all the hitter's parks in the NL Central.

I know the Cubs don't have too many tradeable assets, but if they're going to get another pitcher, I'd rather go the trade route than dish out another potentially crippling contract like this one. After seeing the Garcia trade, I kind of wish the Cubs would have gotten in on that. Surely they could have offered up at least a similar package as the Phillies did.
