Red Sox pitcher Josh Beckett is fully aware of how Helton feels about the idea of playing in Boston. “I know Todd wants to be a Red Sox,” Beckett said yesterday by telephone while watching “Fever Pitch” at home. “He’s pretty excited about it - at least excited about the chance of it happening.” Over the weekend, news broke of the Rockies and the Red Sox discussing a trade involving the 33-year-old. It is believed that the Rockies are seeking at least one, perhaps two, of the Red Sox young pitchers - Craig Hansen and Manny Delcarmen - with the Red Sox more interested in shopping reliever Julian Tavarez and third baseman Mike Lowell. Beckett said Helton, who has a no-trade clause in his contract, wants a deal done before spring training begins or else he wants all talks shelved so he can concentrate on performing for the Rockies. A different source, familiar with Helton, confirmed that the player told the Rockies he would waive his no-trade clause for the Red Sox, and he wants a deal consummated quickly or not at all.

He is all but gone. The Rockies want him gone so bad that they would take a bag of chips for him it seems.
This team is so freaking dumb. WHY THE HELL DO YOU TRADE YOUR BEST PROSPECT BECAUSE HELTON IS IN THE WAY AND THEN RIGHT AFTER YOU DEAL HIM YOU GET RID OF HELTON!!!!! :banghead:

I am sure I will be ranting on this for a few days. :barf:

Well the deal is done they say with the Red Sox. I still expect they will trade Helton. As all Rockies fans know when O'Drool wants someone gone it will happen.....

Word surfaced during the weekend that the Sox and Colorado were discussing a deal that would bring the 33-year-old Todd Helton to Boston, but sources on both sides indicated yesterday discussions actually had been ongoing for several months. At one point, the deal centered around Helton and Manny Ramirez before fading, but it is believed that talks heated up earlier this month following discussions between Rockies owner Charlie Monfort and Sox CEO Larry Lucchino.

The Red Sox and Colorado apparently weren’t fooling around when they agreed that trade talks for Rockies All-Star first baseman Todd Helton were dead. According to sources, the sides did not speak yesterday and the Sox have no intention of restarting negotiations, which were initiated by Colorado.
Old Dan wants Helton gone. I guess he is thinking if he gets the ax he is going to make sure that the star is gone. :notme:

One Orioles source said the Colorado Rockies approached Baltimore several weeks ago about the possibility of trading for first baseman Todd Helton, who was recently rumored to be headed to the Boston Red Sox. The Orioles lost interest because the Rockies wanted Baltimore to pay a significant portion of the $90 million owed to the first baseman.
:hmm:
