The Brewers' decision to move infielder Bill Hall to center field will have an interesting trickle-down effect throughout the system at that position. For beginners, there are Tony Gwynn Jr. and Laynce Nix, both of whom have played center field in the majors and will be looking to make an impression in spring training.

Beyond that, the Brewers have two intriguing minor-league prospects who play center field. Charlie Fermaint, a fourth-round draft pick in 2003 out of Puerto Rico, is listed as the organization's No. 12 prospect by Baseball America magazine, and Darren Ford, an 18th-round pick in 2004, is right behind at No. 13. Lorenzo Cain, ranked No. 6 by Baseball America, was shifted from center to right field last year and has enough power potential to remain a corner outfielder.
