Twins GM, Terry Ryan, just announced that Joe Mauer has agreed to a 4 year contract extention!

Out of all the guys the Twins have to keep he is the one. Hometown boy that is going to be the face of the team. Like Puckett was for so long it is now Joe.

Twins | Morneau's agent turns down Mauer-like deal

Sid Hartman, of the Minneapolis Star/Tribune, reports Mark Pieper, the agent for Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau, has turned down a deal similar to the four-year, $33 million contract C Joe Mauer recently signed.

Morneau can't become a FA until after the 2010 season, so he isn't going anywhere for a while.

Twins 1B Justin Morneau, who has agreed to a $4.5 million deal for this season, remains amenable to discuss a multiyear contract, his agent, Mark Pieper, said Monday. Morneau has not turned down a deal similar to the one Mauer received.
