Minnesota Vikings Brad Childress said he plans to reduce RB Chester Taylor's workload in 2007, according to the Minnesota Star Tribune. Childress indicated he would experiment with new play-callers during spring practices.

Taylor was over-worked in 2006. In his first season as a full-time starter, Taylor combined for a total of 345 carries and receptions, but only 42 in the season's final four games.

"It's no secret that as we went into December, for whatever reason, Chester got nicked a little bit," Childress said. "He was not as effective as he was in the first month of the season. We'd like to be able to identify another one or two guys to help."

Childress mentioned Ciatrick Fason and Mewelde Moore as possibilities but also said fullback Naufahu Tahi, who the Vikings signed off Cincinnati’s practice squad last season, intrigues him.
"What you're trying to do is always change up on the opposing defense," Childress said. "Chester is a 213-pound guy. Tahi is 254 pounds and can run it hard inside. He's pretty well-preserved."

Dr X's analysis: This is bad news for Chester Taylor’s owners. While it is true that we have to see it first to believe it, just the fact that RBBC’s are the norm in the NFL these days, it is very possible that Childress could have Taylor doing a lot of time-share.

If Chester Taylor heads to “Splitsville”, his fantasy value will go down tremendously, especially if he loses valuable goal-line touches that could have translated in fantasy points.
I suggest drafting another reliable RB, if you own Taylor, before filling any other positions on your team. Keep an eye on the three players mentioned above, that could “Help” Taylor preserve is career, during the pre-season to see what develops.
