DETROIT -- The Detroit Tigers placed closer Matt Anderson on the 15-day disabled list Thursday while he recovers from a shoulder injury and recalled right-hander Fernando Rodney from Double-A Erie.

Anderson has been bothered by a stiff shoulder since spring training. He is 2-1 with a 5.63 ERA in eight games. The move was retroactive to Saturday.

Rodney has not given up any runs in eight relief innings with Erie. He has allowed three hits, walked three and struck out six, going 1-0.

I knew there was a reason I dropped him from my fantasy teams.

On the encouraging side, the Tigers are out of the cellar.

:fro: Matt's back today. Hope he can get back to his old self again!

Yes, we can only hope he gets to pitch in save situations. We should give some credit to Acevedo as he has picked up five saves in Anderson's absence.

When Andersons on his game, he could be one of the top 5 best closers in the league.

You know me, I write/talk enough for two or three anyway. It is a good to know that there are a few Tiger fans left in Michigan.

Anderson felt some pain in his arm during a warm-up and was placed back on the fifteen day disabled list this afternoon. In the short term, Acevedo has done a fine job, but the Tigers need Anderson healthy if for no other reason than to trade him. Yet another set-back.

I agree. If they want to trade him, they will need at least 5 good Saves from him.

Although, i'd hate to see him leave. He's my favorite player.:crying2:

I like him, too. Unfortunately, he is one of the few Tigers with real trade value. Any guess as to who gets traded next? I'll take Shane Halter.

I know Shane Halter wants out. But i can't see any big names being traded before the deadline(so far).
