ST. LOUIS -- Florida Marlins manager Jeff Torborg will serve a one-game suspension on Friday at Milwaukee for an ejection on April 8, with major league baseball reducing the penalty from two games.
Torborg was ejected at the home opener against the Montreal Expos after umpires reversed a call that negated a three-run homer by Mike Lowell. Expos manager Frank Robinson had protested the call.
Fans angry about the ruling threw magnetic schedules that had been a giveaway gift onto the field. A TV replay showed the ball hooked foul.
