They start the year pitching 28+ innings of scoreless relief for a Major league record, and then started a new streak in a late night/day 11 innings of perfection. These guys, Bell, Brocail, rookie Cameron (Rule 5 guy), Thompson (former Pre-Pad) along with Cla Meredith, Linebrink and Hoffy, it's money in the bank!

KT has picked these guys off the scrap heap: the Meredith/Bard trade for Mirabelli will go down in MLB history as one of the most lopsided and brilliant trades for the Padres! This is a Bagwell/Greenwell type trade by Boston. Boston needs solid pen relief and yet they didn't have any faith in Cla Meredith but last season he pitched 50.2 innings (usually holding a lead) and his ERA 1.07. Ks to Walks ratio: 37 to 6? This season, he's logged 8.1 innings with a ZERO ERA. Josh Bard is our starting catcher (currently on the DL, got hit by a pitch, but he'll be back soon) and he is our cleanup hitter! These two guys were traded for a guy who can catch a knuckleball. Hmmmmmmmm

I can't say enough about this pen. I am getting seriously spoiled. If there is any sort of battle of the pens, Padres win! If the Padres have a lead in the 5th inning, GAME OVER! Yep, very spoiled and loving it. :cheer: :jump:

Padres purchaed the contract of RHP Justin Germano from Triple-A Portland.
When Germano faces the Braves tonight, it will be his first appearance for the Padres since 2004. He had a 1.69 ERA in five starts for Portland.

Should add to the success!
