Their are strong rumors that Torre is on the way out, especially if they get swept by Boston this weekend in NY.
Would u fire Torre?
They have lost seven in a row, but is it Torre's fault. Is his effectiveness over?
Is it his fault their starting pitching is decimated by injuries?
I love Joe Torre as a one time player and manager. But maybe the team needs a good shakeup.
Who would you hire? How about Joe Girardi? I think he might be good for this team.

I probably would have fired Torre after last season. The Yankees just looked like they needed a kick in the ass.
Right now, although I do question some of Torre's moves, I would be pointing my finger more at Cashman. Going in, he knew Pavano wouldn't last. Mussina is not getting any younger, nor Rivera. I was surprised, no shocked that cashman made so few moves to get some live arms. Perhaps his plan is to really go hard after clemens and Willis...I don't know.
Assuming Rivera is not done, I am guesing the rotation wil be at least average with just Wang and Musssina coming back. Matsui, Damon and Abreu will all get back to their normal self and this team will score a lot of runs. Only shot at doing anything meaningful is to pick up at least one mroe very good pitcher though.
The point is, the Yankees do not have the talent right now. I would probably give Torre a bit more rope. Cashman - I would fire his ass if he doesn't get something done before it is too late.

The Yankees' current state is not Torre's fault, but the Yankees should have changed managers a long time ago.

I agree taht they may have gotten a bit complacent with Torre. He definitely does not have the same edge he used to.
The front office is unofficially in transition. Darthbrenner has been giving Cashman a little more decision making powers instead of being in complete control himself. Plus the heir apparent to the GM ship is divorcing his daughter, so it's no longer clear cut as to who might take over the reins.
Of course, on a more personal note, I love to see the team do badly!!

Yes bring in new blood. Torre has always been my idol. I would love to see him go to Texas myself.

As much as I hate the yankees and love to see them struggle I dont believe he should be fired. Its not his fault that his pitchers are dropping like flies. After this season is over and the yankees fail the make the playoffs (just my prediction) then i would consider firing him,but until then keep joe around.
