Milwaukee leads the NL Central going into the month of May with a record of 17-9.

One reason is their pitching. Jeff Suppan who was acquired from St. Louis is 4-2 with an ERA of 2.55.

Chris Capuano is 4-0 with an ERA of 3.21. He goes for his fifth win tonight against the Cardinals.

Reliever Francisco Cordero has 10 saves and an ERA of 0.00. Impressive. In 11.1 innings of work he has allowed only two hits and has 19 strikeouts to his credit.

Shortstop J.J. Hardy leads the team in RBI's with 19. He is batting .306.

LF Geoff Jenkins is batting .365 with five HR's and 13 RBI's. His OBP is .405.

I really like this team's chances this season.

St. Louis will not repeat in my humble opinion. Something is bad wrong with this team I feel. Not sure what, but something is wrong. Mainly their starting pitching.

I see no other challengers in the NL Central. Chicago is playing like they always do and Houston is not much better.

Pittsburgh may try and mount a challenge, but will fail in the long run I feel.

I agree 1000%.

I'm rooting for Pittsburgh to do something this year.

No love for the Reds. They are not even talked about being in the central in this thread

The Reds just don't have the overall best starting pitching in the NL Central.

Boy do I ever hate to say this but you do have a valid point. The cards will not go anywhere when their number 3 pitcher (kip wells) is worse than their number 5 (weaver) from the year before, not to mention carpenter is on the shelf and their only stick is not producing like we know he can (sorry fantasy elitists) The middle road with chicago and houston is mired with loads of talent but these teams simply do not know how to win. Alfonso and co. have the best chance on payroll alone, Houston needs a pettite/clemens fix and that is obviously not happening which leaves pittsburgh and we know how that will work out in the end, not even the great jim tracy (dodgers baby) can stop a losing record in the steel city. This brew crew love affair will be short lived though if their anchor on the mound does his usual DL stints and or cordero reverts back to his late season melt down with the rangers. The kids can hit though and are fun to watch, hopefully the fans in Wisconsin will put those ugly ass cheeseheads away and grab a beer, the brewers are on the map!

Not the overall best starting pitching, but it is very good with the exception of Milton. I want him released. There problems have been in the bullpen. They have the worst in baseball as of this posting. Over 10 of there losses have come after the starters came out and the bullpen blew leads.

Bad bullpens kill so many teams.
