Do you feel that every team should be represented in the All-Star Game?
I personally dont like the fact that every team MUST have a player selected to the All-Star team. I mean come one Gil Meche? Either you are an All-Star or you are not, let the fans and players choose who is on the teams, if a team does not have an All-star so be it.

they can't have it both ways...
you can't have the game count for something, and then say everyone has to be represented. You can't have the game count for something and then have a ridiculous online voting policy where fans can vote basically as many times as they want as long as they have different e-mail addresses.
So either make it count, or make each team be represented, but with both in place it's silly.

Ditto what Datch said. Either make it a game for the fans or make it a real game. It's one or the other; there should be no overlap.

I also agree with Datch. I would perfer that the ASG didn't count, it's just not fair for someone like Hoffman to have every NL fan pointing at him as the reason the NL didn't have home field advantage. K-Rod came close to having the same thing happen to him, one little single and he is every AL fans goat.

The All Star game is supposed to be the best of the best, not the best from each team.
And it's just supposed to be an exhibition, not an event with significance.
Off with Bud Selig's head!!

30 some years ago, when there were only 24 teams or so it wasnt a bad idea. unfortunately with so many teams nowadays, it no longer makes sense.

It is actually a simple solution, and has happened before.... Have the AS game in July. Make it an exhibition, and require one player from each team and fan voting....
THEN... in October, after the season is over, you have another one. Two weeks after the WS... and a dome or warm weather city. You allow the players/coaches/managers/scouts each ONE vote per position. (including bench and bullpen spots.... Then you play a game with those players.
That way, the fans get what they want... and we also get to see what happens when you (hopefully) truly pick the best of the best.
