From the sound of it, Dean Palmer had spinal fusion surgery. I can't imagine under what circumstances he would return this year, nor can I see him being the same player again. Tigers' management is saying all the right things, but you can just tell the organization is not optimistic about his injury.

Yeah, I like him, too. There is all kinds of talk today that he plans on being back this year. I don't know if that's just spin from his agent, the team, just wishful thinking on his part or a legitimate possibility, but if anyone would try to come back to it would be Palmer.
