Brewers deal for Linebrink

Cincinnati - The Milwaukee Brewers proved they are dead serious about making the playoffs this season by trading three minor-league pitching prospects to San Diego on Wednesday for reliever Scott Linebrink, considered one of the better setup men in the National League.

A right-hander who will be 31 on Aug. 4, Linebrink was 3-3 with a 3.80 earned run average and one save in 44 appearances with the Padres. He is expected to join the Brewers in St. Louis on Friday.

To acquire Linebrink, the Brewers traded right-hander Wil Inman and left-handers Steve Garrison and Joe Thatcher to the Padres. Inman, a third-round draft pick in 2005, was ranked as the No. 3 prospect in the Brewers' farm system by Baseball America magazine. Thatcher was ranked 23rd and Garrison 27th.

I'm not sure about this one. Linebrick is a good pitcher with some desent numbers but I'm not sure if he is enough of an improvement to justafied the Price the Brewers are paying.

Inman is an incredable pitcher with amazing numbers and is a guy I really hate to lose. and then Thatcher is very good leftty and it harts to lose and to get a 3rd pitcher I tell you the Padres are getting a hell of a deal.
