:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I fell asleep. :( But he was already out of the game, and the team had the lead, so I was pretty sure it was going to happen.

I woke up just as he was hugging his catcher then his wife.

Congratulations, Tommy G!!!!

Since I'm a Braves fan and a long-time fan of Glavine, it was the only time this year I rooted for the Mets to win!!!

As much as I've [usually] enjoyed having Tom Glavine as a Met, he will always be a Brave.

I heard it said last year the Glavine might want to pitch for one more year after this, just so he and Maddux would not go into the Hall at the same time. I think it would be really cool if all three of them went in together! It wouldn't take away from each others' accomplishments, but signify what they all meant as a unit in addition to them as individuals.

Its kind of amazing how good the Braves pitching staff once was, and how many people seem to forget about it.

I mean Maddux, Glavine, Smoltz, Avery (in his prime), just them alone were dominate.

As a suffering mets fan for so many years Its pretty hard to forget.

Smoltz against the mets was like unhittable. Back in the day we were happy to win one game of the sereies

As a Met fan, and as a Met fan who has never warmed up to Glavine, it was just another win.
No doupt Braves fans felt it was a special day. When Tom Seaver won his 300th for the White Sox, I hung on every pitch.
When Glavine went perfect into the 6th against the Astro's, I had very mixed emotions. Kept thinking - can't believe it will be this guy after all these years. Was actually glad he didn't do it. I wonder how many felt the same?

lol. I was at that game and I was hoping he would do it. Yes he'll always be a Brave, but he's so solid and so professional and such a good guy that it would have been an honor if he had been the one to achieve that which has always eluded our pitchers. And it would be very appropriate if that task was achieved by a future Hall of Famer.

It also took me a while to warm up to Glavine initially. But once I did, I became a big fan. Maybe because I'm such of fan of the game in addition to my team. Yes I'm a big fan of his, but he will always be a Brave.

Yes he'll always be a Brave

I would have gotten of the fence on his side had he not begged the Braves to sign him in the off season. That didn't sit well with me & confirmed what I always suspected about him. He hasn't embraced us either.
So, watching it, I was torn. On the one hand thrilled to see a perfect game unfolding & on the other thinking, why does it have to be him. After the hit, I laughed at myself when I relised how relieved I was.
There's still time. Would love for Shea to be the home of an MVP and a no hitter before her end !

No i'd say football is number one. As far as Glavine goes though, he is an amazing pitcher who has done a lot for the Mets Franchise.
