San Diego - Willy Taveras stood at his locker late Tuesday night, right leg wrapped in an ace bandage, his season unraveling.

The Rockies' speedy center fielder cannot outrun a lingering quadriceps injury that flared up while running the bases and landed him on the disabled list

No corresponding roster move was announced, though Seth Smith is a possibility given his hot streak in Triple-A

Jeff Baker RF Prob Wed - Face - 8/14/07 Left Friday's game after being hit in the face by a pitch. He is expected to be available tonight.
Willy Taveras CF Out Wed - Quadricep - 8/15/07 Left Tuesday's game with a quad injury and will be placed on the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday.
Edwin Bellorin C 15-day DL - Hamstring - 8/8/07 Placed on the DL after suffering a strained hamstring during August 7th's game.
Sean Barker CF 60-day DL - Hamstring - 8/14/07 Sidelined with a strained hamstring and will miss the rest of the 2007 season.

Wow!!! Counting Rodrigo Lopez and Jason Hirsh that is 6 injuries in 2 weeks. Three starters and Baker was one of the top right handed hitters off the bench and a adequate backup outfielder.

Things even get a bit worse tonight in San Diego the rookie Ubaldo Jimenez has to face Chris Young whose ERA at home is under 1, the last time I checked.

Well add Aaron Cook to the DL. That's 3 SP's and are starting CF'er in a little over 2 weeks time.

Jeff Francis
Josh Fogg
Ubaldo Jimenez
Elmer Dessens
Ramon Ortiz

Take that NL West!!!!

Still just 3 out of the wild card but things are starting to look bleak for my Rockies.

Scratch Ortiz as a starter and pencil in Morales brought up from the Sky Sox.

Kid pitched a good game last night in his major league debut but the Rockies bullpen couldn't hold it for him.

7-4 Rockies in 14

Was looking forward to this Pirate and Nat's homestand but not anymore.

Rockies lose 3 outta 4 to the Pirates and are losing 5-1 in the 9th to the Nat's with our ace Francis throwing.

Rockies are at a season best 6 games over .500

Quite remarkable with the injuries that the Rockies have had to their starting pitching staff.

With a combination of luck, good ball and the long ball, Fogg can add Chris Young to his list of good pitchers he has beat. Don't know how he does it but Fogg was 11-9 last year and now 9-9 this year with a combined 2 year ERA near 5.25

Luck= 4 runs with 4 hits and a odd 1-4-3 DP with runners on 1st and 3rd with the Rox holding a 1 run lead in the top of 8

Good ball= Rockies throwing out 3 runners with 2 plays at the plate. On a bang bang play they came very close to getting Ensberg at 3rd. Padres stayed aggressive on the base paths today even though it kept costing them. Holliday and Spilborghs made some great throws.

Outfield assists: Holliday (Ensberg at home), Spilborghs (Barrett at home

COLORADO ROCKIES-Purchased the contract of LHP Josh Newman from Colorado Springs (PCL). Placed RHP Ramon Ramirez on the 60-day DL.

The team placed reliever Ramon Ramirez, out with right shoulder inflammation, on the 60-day disabled list to make room for Newman on the 40-man roster.

The 25-year-old Newman has never made an appearance in the major leagues. He was 3-2 with a 4.06 ERA in 55 relief appearances for the Sky Sox this season.

Guess they are going to try Redman as the #5 SP

Helton hits a 2rHR off of the Dodgers Saito with a 1-2 count to beat the Dodgers for a sweep of the day night twin bill.

The Rockies also matched their high water mark of 7 games over .500 for the season.

Still 4 games outta the wild card but the Rox are putting up quite the fight.

Season high 11 games over 500 and the Rockies tie their franchise mark of 83 wins 7 games to go.

Sweep the Dodgers 4 games and then beat the Padres the first 2 games on the road to get within 2 1/2 games of the Padres in the wild card.

Go Rockies!

I hope they make it in this year. It would be good to see them put together a 6-0 and squeak in.
