We know where Michael Vick is going to be spending his next 20-23 months. On Monday, Judge Hudson did not go along with Vick’s defense teams request for leniency. He determined that Michael Vick had lied about his involvement in the killing of dogs to the FBI and about his drug use. Vick tested positive for marijuana use on Sept 13, 2007 after claiming to have avoided illegal drugs.
That was the nail in his coffin with regards to a lenient sentence. Whether you think the federal government was fair in its aggressive prosecution of this case is another discussion. Once he plead guilty, it is generally not wise to test positive for marijuana while awaiting sentencing from a federal court judge. The result was a much harsher sentence.
Where that leaves us is that Michael Vick will certainly not be playing NFL football in 2008. He may be released from jail in the late spring or early summer of 2009. However, Michael Vick isn’t going to just walk out of jail and onto the football field...
