Greetings to all Sports Fans.I just became a member of this site and look forward to meeting many new friends. I attended my first NY Yankee game in 1951 when I was Nine years old. That's the day I became a NY Yankees fan and Mickey Mantle became my hero! Since then I have seen many good years and some not so good. Players have changed, salaries have sky rocketed and pitchers now can only throw 100 pitches per game. Some call this progress but I call it pain. I am "old school" and very traditional. Players should be paid fair salaries but somewhere another there has to be a cap. Fans are being priced out of the game. An average family of four can not afford to spend $200 or more to attend a game! Let's get realistic. Is any professional athlete worth $2 million or more dollars per year? No way! Make them earn it like the average worker does. I would cap Salaries at $500,000 per years with incentives. Batters must have at least 250 at bats per season for incentives to kick in. Those hitting .300 or more would earn an additional $30,000. Forty or more home Runs would earn an addtional $40,000. Pitchers should be able to throw more pitches. Up to at least 150 pitches per game. Those striking out 150 or more per season would earn an additional $30,000. Those winning 15 or more games per season would earn an additional $40,000. Relievers saving 30 or more games per season would also earn an additional $1,000 per save. Set up men would be History. Each All Star player would receive $15,000. World Series Winning Players would receive $50,000 each and the losers would get $25,000 each. Other incentives could be offered on a team by team basis. I really believe the teams could prosper, Players would still be making above average Salaries, Ticket prices could be lowered, and more Families and Fans could afford to attend more games. Let's get back to the "Real World"!
Enough said. What do you think ? :wave1:
