This is from the Rangers web site:

Texas Manager Jerry Narron left the team after Saturday's game to be with his ailing father in Greensboro, N.C., and the Rangers do not know when the skipper will rejoin the team.
John Narron Sr., confined to a wheelchair for the past 2 1/2 years, has been battling cancer and struggling against injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1999. The automobile accident resulted in the death of Narron's mother and the amputation of one of John Sr.'s legs.

"We told Jerry to go and spend as much time with his family as he needs to," Rangers Assistant General Manager Dan O'Brien said. "His family felt he had to be there and we support Jerry 100 percent. These are very difficult circumstances for anybody."

Bench coach Terry Francona will manage the team in Narron's absence.

"As important as this game is, and it is important, family is more important," Francona said Sunday. "There is no way of knowing when he will come back, but I do know that he does not want to be away. But family is second to none."

Francona managed the Philadelphia Phillies from 1997 to 2000 posting a 285-363 record. He joined the Rangers in November after spending the 2001 season as a Special Assistant to Baseball Operations for the Cleveland Indians.

"I know how (Narron) expects to manage and the game will be run the same," Francona said. "I won't do anything different because for the most part, I agree with the way he has run the game."

I hope his Dad is going to be alright. I know the feeling about the Cancer stuff, I went through it last year with my wife. It takes faith and a strong belief that He will see you through, and I will pray for Jerry's dad. Let's hope the Rangers can get back on track so Jery has something positive to come back to!!!!

Go Rangers!!!!
