Nate Cornejo was returned to Toledo today. Adam Bernero, who had been having a stellar season with the Mud Hens, has been called up to the parent club.

This is not a good thing for the Tigers. Cornejo was being counted on as a key component to the team's future. While he still may be just that, he barely made the club out of Spring Training, then two months later gets sent down. If he cannot assume a prominent role in the rotation, yet another Tiger prospect will fall painfully short of expectations.

He is young (22) and still has lots of potential, but he's clearly not heading in the right direction.

While I am disappointed in Cornejo's demotion, I hope Bernero can continue his AAA success back up here with the Tigers.

Just yesterday, i was thinking about how great it is that their not jerkin' this guy up and down the minors. Then he has a great game, and they throw him down!

But Bernero has earned the right to be re-called. I like this guy a lot. I heard Mike Maroth, and Brian Powell are also doing real good in Toledo.

I thought Cornejo pitched pretty well in his last start, too. Sure his performance has been uneven, at best, but he's 22 years old, didn't spend too much time in the minors and pitched for a rather poor team. What did they expect?

For now, however, I'll defer to Dombrowski. If he thinks Cornejo belongs at Toledo, I won't argue.
