Clement doubles down the rightfield line.

Patterson bunts for a single, Clement to third.

Hill singles up the middle, Clement scores, Patterson to second. 1-0 Cubbies.

Sosa flies out to right, no advancement by the runners.

McGriff singles to left, Patterson scores from second. Hill to second. 2-0 Cubs.

Maybe I should stop this game thread. The game was close until I started this thread.

Hill to third and McGriff to second on a passed ball.

Alou strikes out ... two outs.

Bellhorn is intentionally walked.

Machado flies out to shallow right.

2-0 at the end of 3.

Mackowiak strikes out.

Kendall singles between shortstop and thirdbase.

Young strikes out after an at bat near ten pitches, Kendall was off on the pitch and stole second, throw into CF and Kendall to third, Kendall called out on batters interference. As Brown and Walk are saying, the Pirates did nothing wrong.

2-0 after 3.5

I'm done doing a game thread ... this is just pathetic.

When doing a game thread of the Pirates, you can pretty much not mention the half innings in which we bat.

Man, this is getting sad. They keep saying that we shouldn't trade our pitching for a bat because that would be a quick fix and we are not going to contend this year anyhow. They also say that we want to build around pitching. That's fine. But there is no real help on the way from the minors. Not this year and not next year, and not really anywhere in the forseeable future. This is the first season Rivera has really done anything, and it's not like the year is over. House is injured again, but when he plays, it doesn't appear that he is doing much. JJ Davis has been hitting a little lately, but even so, for a first round pick he isn't doing too much developing.

The media experts act like we are just going to have to struggly through this season, do nothing about it, and then come next year, we are magically going to be better at scoring runs. Or maybe they think that the pitching will be so good from not trading any of it, that we will shut everyone out and win games one to nothing all the time.

I guess I'm just getting sicker and sicker as we sink to lower and lower levels of ineptitude at the plate.

.302-.283 Giles (down 19 points)
.302-.261 Kendall (down 41 points)
.284-.231 C. Wilson (down 53 points)
.276-.257 Rios (down 19 points)
.269-.244 Ramirez (down 25 points)
.265-.216 Brown (down 49 points)
.260-.202 Young (down 58 points)
.250-.220 Mackowiak (down 30 points)
.248-.206 Reese (down 42 points)
.237-.167 Osik (down 70 points)
.235-.225 Nunez (down 10 points)
.233-.174 Benjamin (down 59 points)
.221-.213 J. Wilson (down 8 points)
.208-.297 Hermansen (up 89 points)

Those stats are from the onlybucs.com board. The left hand column is career batting averages and the right hand is current batting averages. Horrible. Clark needs to be fired tomorrow.

The Pirates are 9-21 since starting out 12-5. Again, that's horrible.
