In the Red Sox radio pre-game show on WTIC-AM last night Joe D'Ambrosio mentioned Jimmy Anderson as a possible trade target for the BoSox to solidify their rotation. Boston would seem to be an unlikely partner given that their minor league system is in as bad shape as the Bucs. And they're unlikely to part with anyone who can help us off the ML roster.

I don't put much stock into that rumor right now. Anderson is pitching well, has the most quality starts of anyone on the team, and is on pace for 14 wins. Since he is eligible for arbitration this season, I do think DL would trade him, but for nothing short of a major league ready player. And as you mentioned, the BoSox don't have any they'd trade for Anderson.

I agree. Too bad they can't put together a package for Nick Johnson. He isn't thrilled with DHing and Giambi will be a fixture for a while. Unfortunately Anderson and Craig Wilson wouldn't be enough.
