View Full Version : What's Up With Boehringer?
3-2 Changeup

Is he that selfish about his stats or have Jack and Pokey spoiled the pitching staff? It looked to me like Jack was laid out trying to get the ball from the photo on the PPG web site. Did anyone see the play on TV?

Boehringer was COMPLETELY out of line. That was bush league.
If Wilson was out of position, then so be it. Sure, that's something to be upset about. But it's a 4-0 game and the Cards were never in danger of taking over. You never attack a teammate over something that miniscule.
Besides that, Boehringer walked the bases loaded. If Wilson's out of position, then that's one batter. But you don't let that get to your head and walk the next guys.

I did not see the play on television, but if you read the ppg this morning, Ron Cook agrees that Jack was caught napping on that play. He didn't think that Brian handled it properly, but he thought he should have been a little upset.

I was at the game and I thought that Wilson should have had the ball. That doesn't justify how Boehringer handled it though. Wilson is a fine defensive player but he does showboat. He makes some plays that are routine look more difficult. The Cards have a player who has been accused of the same thing--Edmonds. He seems to like to make catches where he's running into the wall when there are times that he could get back there quicker and set himself up. Same with Wilson. There are times on ground balls where he could get in front of the ball but makes diving plays instead. I guess it doesn't matter, as long as the guy makes the play.
