HOUSTON (TICKER) -- The Chicago Cubs on Saturday placed lefthander Ron Mahay on the 15-day disabled list with tendinitis in his left biceps.
The move was retroactive to Thursday, when he surrendered three runs and three hits while retiring just one batter.
Mahay, who is 2-0 with an 8.59 ERA in 11 games, became the 10th Cubs player and the sixth pitcher to land on the disabled list this season. He has given up 14 runs and 11 hits, including six home runs, over 6 1/3 innings in his last five appearances.
Filling the roster spot is righthander Courtney Duncan, who was recalled from Class AAA Iowa. Duncan was 0-3 with two saves and a 4.50 ERA in 16 games for Iowa.
