Cleveland at Toronto 5/26/02 P: Colon vs. Prokopec
Score: Indians 3 - Toronto 1 WP: Colon LP: Prokopec
BASEBALLS TO:
Bartolo Colon: Superb! He pitched his 3rd complete game of the year and only gave up 1 unearned run. He also made a nice play in the 6th inning to get to a ball hit between the mound and home plate & toss it to Einar to get the speedy Shannon Stewart out at home.
Jim Thome: Another solid game. He had a solo homerun, a single and two walks.
Matt Lawton: A single for an RBI.
Omar Vizquel: A sacrifice fly for an RBI.
Shannon Stewart: A double and a single.
Dave Berg: A single for an RBI.
GOOFBALLS TO:
Chris Magruder: Committed an error in the 3rd inning. He misplayed the hop of the ball which allowed Wells to go to third. He scored when the next batter stroked a single.
Luke Prokopec: For falling apart in the 5th inning. He walked two men, committed a balk, and hit Einar with a pitch before we ever got a hit in the inning. We had 1 single and a sac fly to score 2 runs. Those runs were gifts and we thank you very much.
Einar Diaz: He had a dreadful day at the plate. He popped out in the 6th inning with the bases loaded and had a fly out in the 8th with men on second & third to end the inning.
JUST UGLY:
We only had 6 hits today and stranded 11 runners. Twice we had the bases loaded and couldn't do a thing. It's a good thing Bartolo pitched so well.
BEST DEFENSIVE PLAY OF THE GAME:
John McDonald: He Caught Raul Mondesi's popup to the outfield in the 9th. He ran out from second base to around mid-outfield and caught the popup with his back to the ball. He played an outstanding second base all day today.
