with the 3rd best record in the whol NHL in regular season and gettin beatern horribly in the 1st round of the playoffs...the flyers were expected to do more and should have done more..Chicago and Deroit were the only teams better than them in the regular season.

The Flyers leaving early weren't a surprise. That's about as annual as anything nowadays.
Losing in the first round to Montreal maybe wasn't expected, but I wouldn't have been surprised if they were out by the second round.

Ummm, Boston was better than Philly, they had the second best record in the NHL next to Detroit. It was Boston who lost to Montreal in the first round. Horrible.

Seriously, if my memory is correct, Philadelphia has always been a very talented team that never advanced far in the playoffs. That's how I came about that conclusion. I don't have the exact years, but I thought Philly's had some really talented teams that have not done much in the playoffs.
