Outfielder Jacob Cruz was placed on the Rockies' 15-day disabled list on July 17 with a strained hamstring. Cruz, acquired from Cleveland on June 1, is hitting .213 with five RBIs in 30 games with the Rockies this season. He has made 16 starts for the Rockies, but he strained his hamstring on Monday night in the Rockies' 5-1 loss to Oakland.

The injury further erodes the outfield depth of the struggling Rockies. Mark Little has been on the DL since June 1 with a foot injury, and Larry Walker has a sore right elbow. The injury problems have been just one factor in a monthlong freefall for Colorado, which has lost 21 of 25 games. To replace Cruz, Colorado recalled outfielder Robin Jennings, acquired from the A's Oakland in a trade for Ron Gant last month.
