BASEBALLS TO:
Chuck Finley: Great game and a well deserved win. A little sloppy in the first when he gave up 2 runs but after that he was dynamite. He pitched 7 innings and had 11 strikeouts. At one point he struck out 6 in a row. I was so glad to see the guys finally give him a little run support. His record should be much better than 3-6.
Travis Fryman: 2 singles and 3 RBI's. Way to come through in the clutch. See! You can hit right handed pitching.
Ellis Burks: A homerun, a single, and scored a run. Looks like the hammy is starting to feel better.
Matt Lawton: A single, a double, and scored a run.
Jim Thome: A double and scored a run. I had begun to worry Weaver was going to get his no hitter today until Thome broke it up with his double in the fifth.
Paul Shuey: This guy has been awesome this year. His ERA is only .095. He came in and retired all three batters in order striking out 2 of them.
Bob Wickman: Can't he ever make it easy? Geez! He scared the crap out of me again. He managed to load the bases once again but got out of it as usual to earn the save.
Bobby Higginson: A single and an RBI.
Dmitri Young: A double and an RBI.
GOOFBALLS TO:
Damian Jackson: He was charged with an error when he made a bad throw to second base on what should have been a routine double play. Instead Ricky ended up on 2nd and Travis went to 3rd.
Chris Magruder: He went 0 for 4 with 2 strikeouts. He also managed to pop up with only 1 out and men on second and third. Is it really that hard to hit a sac fly?
Jim Thome: Credited with an error for letting a ball bounce off his glove while trying to field it. It allowed the runner to reach first.
BRAIN LAPSE OF THE NIGHT:
Russell Branyan: Lost track of the count and had to be coaxed by the umpire to walk to first after ball 4. I thought it was Manny Ramirez for a minute there.
