HOUSTON (AP) -- Houston Rockets guard Steve Francis won't be able to play basketball for more than four months after undergoing surgery to repair the lining of his right shoulder.

Francis, who was operated on Thursday, is expected to be sidelined 16-to-18 weeks.

``We expect Steve to return to the court near the start of training camp,'' Rockets trainer Keith Jones said.

Francis missed the last three games of the season because of the shoulder strain and missed a total of 25 games this season, seven because of migraine headaches.

Francis averaged 21.6 points and 6.4 assists in 57 games.
