Chicago at Cleveland 06/02/02 P: Wright vs. Finley
Score: Indians 4 - White Sox 3 WP: Finley LP: Wright
Save: Wickman
BASEBALLS TO:
Chuck Finley: Outstanding! He pitched 7 innings with no walks, 4 hits, and 0 earned runs. He has been dominating his last couple of starts. Where was this guy the last couple of years? Glad to see him now.
Chris Magruder: I think he wants to stay. He had a homerun, a sac fly, and 3 RBI's.
Omar Vizquel: A single and an RBI. Congratulations on receiving his 9th gold glove today.
Einar Diaz: A single, a double, and scored 2 runs. Looks like he is starting to heat up. He also made a great play in the 1st inning. Durham hit a popup to the right side between Thome and Lawton. Thome ran out to try to catch the ball. It fell between Thome & Lawton and Matt picked it up to throw to first as Durham was trying to go to second. Einar came all the way to first to receive the throw and tag Durham out trying to get back to 1st. How often do you see that?
Kenny Lofton: Hit a double in the 9th for an RBI.
Ray Durham: 2 singles, a walk, and an RBI.
Sandy Alomar: He had a double, a single, an RBI, and scored a run. He is very quietly having a good year for the Sox.
GOOFBALLS TO:
Damaso Marte: He came in to face three batters and gave up a single and a homerun.
Frank Thomas: He went 0 for 5 today and made the final out of the game with 2 men on base.
Paul Konerko: He went 0 for 4 and grounded out with the bases loaded in the 8th.
Royce Clayton: He went 0 for 2 and struck out with the bases loaded in the 2nd.
Omar Vizquel: Committed an error in the 2nd when he bobbled an Alomar grounder. He tried to recover and threw to 2nd but it was too late. The runner was safe and it loaded the bases. Ironic that it would happen on a day he receives another gold glove.
Paul Shuey: Sloppy! He came in to pitch the eighth and proceeded to make a mess. He gave up a double, a single, two walks, and gave up a run. He had the bases loaded when he finally managed to get out of it.
Bob Wickman: Even Sloppier! He also gave up 2 singles, a double, a walk, and 2 runs before he got finally got Thomas to line out to end the game. He was walking around the mound a lot between pitches and taking a lot more time than usual. I wonder if that elbow was bothering him.
Ellis Burks and Ricky Gutierrez: Both were hitless for the Tribe today.
GOOD NEWS:
We got the sweep and are now tied for second place.
