Cleveland at Minnesota 6/05/02 P: Sabathia vs. Milton

Score: Indians 6 - Twins 4 WP: Sabathia LP: Milton

Save: Riske

BASEBALLS TO:

C.C. Sabathia: He went 7 1/3 innings and only gave up 2 runs. Nice game C.C. Way to stay focused.

Jim Thome: Congratulations on your 300th career homerun (all of them as an Indian). He also had a single, 2 walks, and another RBI. His average is almost up to .300 now. He gets the most improved player of the month award.

Einar Diaz: He went 3 for 4 tonight with a double, 2 singles, an RBI, and scored a run. I like what I've been seeing from him the last week.

John McDonald: Awesome! Congratulations on your first major league triple and your first major league RBI. He also scored a run tonight too. This guy is greased lightening when it comes to turning the double play. Have you ever seen anybody move so fast? His defense was outstanding tonight as he had 4 put outs and 3 assists. Hey Charlie! I think this guy deserves to play some more.

Omar Vizquel: Two singles, a double, a walk, and scored a run. Great defense as always from him too.

Ellis Burks: A homerun, a single, and a grounder for an RBI.

Paul Shuey: He came on in the eighth inning with a man on 1st and 2nd and only one out. He faced two batters and struck them both out to get us out of that jam. This was after the home plate umpire gave him a bunch of grief about his glove and made him change it. I'm not sure if that was the umpire's idea or Gardenhire put a bug in his ear about it but if it was Gardenhire that was a cheap tactic. I'm glad to see it backfired. All you did was fire Shuey up. You could see he was mad.

David Riske: You da man! It was Riske to the rescue. He came in with the bases loaded in the bottom of the ninth with 2 outs to face Torii Hunter. He battled him with an eleven pitch at bat and when the count got full he threw the perfect pitch right down the middle of the plate at Hunter's knees to strike him out and save the game.

Charlie Manuel: For sticking up for your pitchers and getting yourself thrown out in the ninth.

Christian Guzman: A double, a single, a walk and an RBI.

Bobby Kielty: He hit his first homerun of the season off of Bob Wickman tonight. He also had a single earlier in the game.

David Ortiz: A pinch hit single for an RBI in the ninth.

Tom Prince: Got an RBI when he grounded out.

GOOFBALLS TO:

Bob Wickman: He faced four batters to start the ninth inning and gave up a homerun, 2 singles, and 2 runs. Thank goodness Charlie had the brains to pull him out. If your elbow is hurting tell someone. Don't go out there and hurt the team.

Jim Joyce: (home plate umpire) For squeezing Rincon in the ninth and harassing Shuey in the eighth.

No I don't mind. We just do it for fun anyway. I just wish you had told me about it a little sooner.

P.S. I'm a woman.
