MILWAUKEE (TICKER) -- The Milwaukee Brewers (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/mil/) on Friday placed veteran infielder Luis Lopez (http://bigleaguers.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5/5181/) on unconditional waivers.
Lopez, 31, played just six games this season and was hitless in eight at-bats with two RBI and a run scored in his third year with the Brewers. He was acquired from the New York Mets (http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/teams/nym/) on Janury 21, 2000 for lefthander Bill Pulsipher (http://bigleaguers.yahoo.com/mlb/players/5/5422/).
Lopez also played with San Diego, whom he made his major league debut with in 1993. His best season was in 1998 with the Mets, when he batted .252 with two home runs and 22 RBI in 117 games. He has a career average of .249 with 19 home runs and 131 RBI.
