Today's pitchas!!!

Jason Johnson is coming off the DL - where he's been since April 20, having suffered a chip fracture in his right middle finger - I still don't get how he did this. (Scraping across the ground? - I just can't picture it!) ANYHOO!!! JJ's pitchin'!

And then there's Ishii.... whoa. :ummm:

Jason Johnson - #16

vs.

Kazuhisa Ishii - #17

Sorry about the Sox today, but it looked like everyone played hard. (And the Skanks lost! WOOOHOOO!!!)

Whoa this will be a tough test for our opportunistic offense. We haven't scored a whole lot of runs in a while, so hopefully we can break out and score 7 or so tonight? Ah I wouldnt bet on it with Ishii pitching! Anyway, if JJ keeps us in the game I say we can win it 4-3.

Okay! By the way, this is what you said before last night's game : He (R.Lo) needs a game to rebound, hopefully we can score 5+ runs and he can allow 3 or less over 6 or 7 innings.

:uhoh:

So they didn't need 5+ runs, but you were right on the money with the rest of it!!! (Plus a couple innings!)

So, I'm gonna hold you to your prediction.

:bigsquare

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 08:19 PM
Uh-oh, looks like a rock start for JJ so far... I know its only the 1st inning but second and third with nobody down is not the way he wants to start it out!!! :ohno:

Nanner
06-08-2002, 08:22 PM
OHMIGOD! Someone who can give real live information without looking at ESPN GameCast!

Hmmmm. Yikes. Keep me posted.

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 08:38 PM
Follow it on CBS Sportsline... that is a really awesome thing that they do, they tell you what happens pitch-by-pitch.

JJ loaded the bases with 1 out, Roberts scored on a sac fly by Karros. But JJ got the next guy out to get out of the inning with just 1 run allowed.

Hurricane Floyd
06-08-2002, 09:14 PM
what happened to the play by play?

Nanner
06-08-2002, 09:20 PM
I'm making dinner.

But I'm watching the O's game on the computer and the Mets game on TV

It's very confusing.

By the way, Tom Seaver should do his research. He said the O's looked horrible in Sprint Training. TOM!!!! CHECK IT OUT!!! They went 18-7-1, the best Spring Training they've had in years, and they led the American League.

So, Tom Seaver.... I'd just like to say.... :eviltongu

Bottom of the 5th, Ishii pitching to Geronimo Gil

Dodgers lead 4-3. :ohno:

06-08-2002, 09:50 PM
Geronimo struck out swinging.

Here's Bordy :lust:

COME ON, SWEETIE!!!!! YOU CAN DO IT!!!

WAIT FOR YOUR PITCH, BABY.

oops. Don't wait that long. Struck out looking. :kissyou: :itsok:

Jerry Hairston grounds out right back to Ishii.

Nuts.

WOOHOOO!!!

JJ sets them down 1-2-3

Ground out to Jerry Hairston Jr.

Ground out to Jerry Hairston Jr.

Fly out to Gary Matthews Jr. in right.

The Juniors workin' the inning!!!

COME ON, TEAM!!!! MM SAID 4-3, BUT HE DIDN'T MEAN DODGERS 4, ORIOLES 3!!!

Bottom of the 6th comin' up!

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 09:57 PM
Hey, I'm back now. I was eating dinner and watching the game on TV for awhile. It's tough for me to watch the game and be online at the same time, the computer is pretty far away from the TV.
And I can't listen on radio while posting, b/c the game got superceded by the stupid Stanley Cup. Who likes hockey, anyway!?

Anyway, looks like my prediction will be wrong once again. I think I better stop predicting before all my credibility is ruined! ;) Revised prediction: Orioles 6, Dodgers 5

JJ just had 2 3-up, 3-down innings. That is a good sign, hopefully he can bring that momentum into his next start.

Nanner
06-08-2002, 10:02 PM
*sigh*

Ishii does it too.

Mighty Mel Mora popped out to 2nd.

Brian Roberts popped bunted to Ishii.

Gary Matthews Jr. grounded out to short.

*sigh*

IT'S 2 RUNS YA NEED, GUYS!!!!! THIS IS DO-ABLE!!!!

Baseball players just don't listen to me. :ohno:

Hiya!!! :wavey: Welcome back, MM! I've been trying to hold down the fort, with a coupla visits from Floyd.

This is a good sign for JJ after being on the DL!!!

Hey! I like 6-5, O's!!!

MarylandMan

C'mon guys! Don't let the '02 Orioles be the only O's team ever to lose to the Dodgers!

Uh, yeah. I'm gonna stop with the predictions. At this point, I would not predict an O's win... :ohno:

I question Hargrove's decision to put in Brock. He has not pitched much (if at all) since returning a coupla days ago from his injury... He needs to get back to the game in a situation with much less pressure.

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 10:17 PM
Eh, a 2-run inning for LA. Too bad...

Well it could have been alot worse. I was afraid they were gonna break this one way open! Its still within striking distance, but with the way Ishii has been pitching, I would say we need to get lucky... :ohno:

Nanner
06-08-2002, 10:18 PM
Oh-oh. Dodgers 6, O's 3. Top of the 7th. I still think they can do this.

HEY, GUYS!!!! MM MEANT ORIOLES 6, NOT DODGERS 6!!!

I'm still upset about JJ being taken out. Have they said why? Is he hurting?

Whew. Chris Brock got out of that inning with only 2 runs scored. (Only.... yikes. )

COME ON, O'S!!!! LET'S SEE ONE OF THOSE FABULOUS COMEBACKS!!!

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 10:22 PM
Yeah, I think JJ was taken out probably because he was getting tired. Hargrove probably didn't want to let him throw much more than 100 pitches in his 1st game back.

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 10:24 PM
Conine cut down stealing... bad, bad call by Chris Guccione-- he wasn't in position at all. It was a close call, but he was not in position to call Niner out.

Hargrove ejected... he can get pretty mad sometimes! :)

MarylandMan
06-08-2002, 10:26 PM
Hey, they're replacing Ishii!! Good job, O's!

Its a success any time you can get a top starter like him out of the game before he gets to 7 innings!

I know it doesnt sound like a big success, but hey, I'm looking for positives here!

Here's what Lifetime was showing in NYC:

At the Mercy of a Stranger
Movie / Drama (1999) 1 hr 36 min NR TVPG
After a woman (Joanna Kerns) decides to divorce her manipulative husband (Stephen Lang), she learns that he has hired someone (Tim Matheson) to kill her.

And before that, tonight, it was:

In the Name of Love: A Texas Tragedy
Movie / Drama (1995) 1 hr 36 min NR TVPG
Murder results when a tycoon (Richard Crenna) gives his grandson (Michael Hayden) an ultimatum: ditch his seductress girlfriend (Laura Leighton) or lose his inheritance.

So how come we didn't get the same thing, I wonder.
