So, the trade of Branyen-was it for the better or worse. There are two ways to look at this trade. 1) The are beginning a cap clearing room so they can make runs at Thome and Colon. or 2)They are preparing for the loss of Thome by getting a 1B prospect in Ben Broussard. What do you guys think?

Only time will tell regarding the Branyan trade. In a way, I was sorry to see Russ go, he seemed to offer much potential. I saw him hit some prodigious blasts. But as the season wore on, it was becoming increasingly obvious that he was really messed up at the plate. It was unfortunate that he became the object of the fans' wrath at recent home games.
I am also somewhat surprised that we were able to obtain such a highly rated prospect in Broussard, but I only know what I've read since the trade. Tribe brass says they are looking at him as a left fielder. It would be nice to get Thome to re-sign, but we'll have to wait until the season is over. Thome won't talk any contract during the season.
