Steelers re-sign Faneca, von Oelhoffen

By Ed Bouchette, Post-Gazette Sports Writer
The Steelers signed two more of their veteran starters to long-term deals today, locking up Pro Bowl guard Alan Faneca and defensive end Kimo von Oelhoffen.
Faneca signed a six-year contract that will pay him close to $26 million, including a $6 million signing bonus. Von Oelhoffen signed a two-year contract extension, which puts him under contract for four more years at about $10 million.
The team previously had signed linebackers Joey Porter, Jason Gildon and John Fiala and offensive lineman Oliver Ross. They also signed unrestricted free agent James Farrior to replace Earl Holmes at linebacker.
They are negotiating with several players to extend their contracts, including defensive end Aaron Smith, tackle Wayne Gandy, safety Lee Flowers and halfback Amos Zereoue.
I am sort of surprised at the Von Oelhoffen signing, since he was already under contract for two seasons. But, I am extremely happy about the Faneca signing.
