He was with the Reds while Griffey was injured, but was then expendable when Kearns made such a big impact. He is now down in Louisville. He did alright. Not to good not to bad. In 20 games he batted .277 with a homer 3 rbis and 4 doubles. He would be a good player to trade for pitching.

I wouldn't be suprised if they traded this guy. They've already got the 4 outfeilders now, and Wily Mo Pena who's almost ready.

Uh Tigersman, The Reds have 7 Outfielders in the majors right now, plus Mateo and Pena in the minors.

In the Major they have
1. Ken Griffey Jr.
2. Adam Dunn
3. Austin Kearns
4. Juan Encarnacion
5. Brady Clark
6. Russ Branyan
7. Reggie Taylor

Hell there may be more. These are just the one's I can think of right now!

4 guys, who are ligitimate starters. And Branyans playing third.

Crap if you think Bob Boone is going to play Branyan over his boy Aaron except but every once in great while you are sadly mistaken. Bob could care less if the team wins as long as Aaron's out there. He had a huge smile on his face when Percival struck Aaron out to end the game just because Aaron is the 1 that got the chance to be the hero even though he failed!

I agree that if Bob was not managing Aaron would not be playing. Chris Stynes would have had more of a shot last year at playing if Bob was not managing.

Branyan trade actually comes at a good time
June 9, 2002

It made sense for manager Bob Boone to stick with his son, third baseman Aaron Boone, even when Aaron was slumping, but acquiring Branyan could give Dad a new opportunity for showing off his son.

Bob Boone said one scenario for using Branyan could be as the starter at third with Aaron moving to shortstop when Barry Larkin needed a day off.

That would mean even less playing time for infielder Juan Castro, who hadn't played this season until being activated from the disabled list June 1.
