With all of the injuries this year to the pitching staff, I think the Dodgers are doing much better than could be expected. Guys have really stepped up (Terry Adams, Greg Gagne, Matt Herges and the Bullpen).

But I think if we want to seriously contend for the NL West, or even the Wild Card, we need to get at least one proven quality starter to replace Ashby, Dreifort, and for a while longer, Kevin Brown.

Those are some big shoes to fill. But I think that the man for the job is Pedro Astacio. I'd love to see him come back to LA.

Any other starters you think would be a good fit for the Dodgers run at the post season?

I'm headed to Coors right now to watch Astacio pitch to the Goobers tonight. If he coughs up anything like Neagle did yesterday, I'll personally make sure he's on the plane with the team after the game. Seriously, he would be a good fit with LA, but I don't think O'Dowd will deal him within the division. Reynoso (w/Arizona) reminds the Rockies how stupid it is to trade within the division - it always comes back to bite you.
