Do you know that this 36 (soon to be 37) year old guy is leading the American League in Fielding Percentage... (.996), with 1 error. Royce Clayton, of the Chicago White Sox is right up there also, with .996 and 1 error, but Clayton has played in 5 more games. Even with 5 more games, Clayton has 13 less chances, (272), and 12 less assists (180) than Bordy.

Bordy has played 11 less games than Derek Jeter, who has the most games played, but with all those games, Jeter only has 149 assists, Bordy has 192 :uhoh: Bordy has 92 putouts, Jeter has 86, Bordy, even with less games, has had 285 total chances compared to Jeter's 235. Compared with other shortstops, even with less games, Bordy is still in 4th place with putouts, and the guys ahead of him, (Chris Gomez - 102, ARod - 97, Naife Perez - 93) have 6, 4, and 7 errors respectively. :uhoh:

This is one solid, hardworking, defensive guy!!! Who cares if his BA hovers in the low .200's most of the time.

*sigh*

I'm so proud.

Kudos to Bordy. The TV and radio guys here in the Baltimore area are constantly praising him as a consistent fielder who is a guiding veteran presence in the clubhouse. I think he's taught Brian Roberts a thing or two already!

Possible explanation for some of his big stats, assist-wise, etc: Scott Erickson likes to induce ground balls a whole lot, and in a couple of games against KC where he went 8 innings or so I think he had something like 18-20 of his 24 outs recorded by ground balls! Thats in each game, folks! :uhoh:

Anyway, I remember Bordy's one error, I think. I think it was really Segui's fault, he decided not to jump off the bag and get the ball at first, so instead Bordy's throw flew over his head.

Ok, so I'm goin out of town in a couple hours! Goin camping... away from all the hustle and bustle. Too bad I'll be away from baseball too! :ohno:

With Scotty inducing all those ground balls, he must feel good having a solid guy like Bordy behind him! (That certainly also explains all those assists! :P )

It actually looks like, from his stats throughout his career, that this could be Bordy's best defensive year. (Geez. I hope I don't jinx him with all this. :hmm: - But if the TV and radio guys are praising him and it hasn't jinxed him, then that's OK!)

Awwww. Gonna miss my Orioles pal around here. Well, I'll try and keep everything up to date for ya, and have a great camping trip! Camping's great... very relaxing to be away from everything.

BTW- What's the weather like in NY? We're expecting Thunderstorms, but it's still nice out. I'm trying to tell if we're gonna have a game tonight. Raining there?
