Guys what happened to the Spurs

I remember the Spurs back won the ship and they were an excellent team but what happened please tell me guys here I know the Lakers were a lot more determined I do not know( I know it sounds all i talk about is the Lakers LOL) But what happened???? Please tell me thanks

here's what happened to the Spurs:
-Robinson got old and became less productive
-Mario Elie, Avery Johnson, and Sean Elliott, all starters on the 1999 championship team are gone and are replaced by players who choke in the 4th quarter
-The competition got better. Back in 99, the Kobe and Shaq were still fighting, the Kings barely made the playoffs, and Dallas was a lottery team. Now, they're three of the best teams in the league. The Spurs didn't drastically fall apart or anything, the main reason why they haven't won a championship lately is because everyone else got better.
