If Michael Jordan returns for his 15th NBA season, and there's only a 50 percent chance of that, a source close to Jordan told the Daily Southtown, it might be as the sixth man for the Washington Wizards.

That, at least, is what the source told the suburban Chicago newspaper.

"Michael is prepared to have his role reduced to 28 to 30 minutes off the bench," said the source, who said he spoke with Jordan at length recently. "In an ideal world, that's not how Michael wants it. But at this stage of his career, he knows that's how it has to be."

The source also told the Southtown Daily that Jordan wouldn't announce any decision about his playing future until September, therefore giving his left knee more time to possibly return to full strength.

"Michael doesn't have a timetable," said the source, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "He won't make an announcement until he's absolutely certain about his future, and he doesn't expect that to happen until September."

Jordan had surgery last season to repair torn cartilage in his left knee, but he still finished the season on the injured list.

"There's no question that Michael wants to play one more season, but his body doesn't react to what his mind thinks the way it once did," the source said. "The last thing Michael wants is a repeat of last season. He doesn't want to hear people say how the comeback tarnished his legacy and all that. He wants to be healthy enough to prove those people wrong, or else he won't play at all."

lol, i agree with lal...does anyone really think MJ would come back only to play from the bench? The Wizards suck without MJ, and IMO he's too competitive to sit on the bench and watch his team lose

yeah, i'd think he'd go to the Hornets being he's from North Carolina. He coulda probably saved the franchise from moving. If not the Hornets than why didn't he stay with the Bulls? Imagine him with Jay and Jalen :2guns:

the hornets would be a competitive team with MJ...but the bulls!! YEA! its all part of some Jordan-Krause scheme(i always knew those 2 were tight!!)! Jordan leaves, makes it look like they dont like each other, makes the wizards look bad, and then, he comes back just after the bulls get a good core group of players(through the draft) and he jalen and jay lead the bulls to their 7th NBA championship against...the Lakers! its all part of a plan!!! :biggrinpa :bigsquare :evillol:

Another return for Michael Jordan? Well, sort of.

Jordan is planning to start training in July to try and prepare for a second season with the Wizards, the Washington Post reported Sunday.

A source also told the Post that if Jordan does decide to come back as a player, it might not be as the team's starting forward but as a backup to guard Richard Hamilton.

The part-time role could lessen the physical wear and tear Jordan felt last season when he was paired against bigger players like the Nets' Kenyon Martin, the source told the newspaper.

Washington has placed its focus on selecting a forward in Wednesday's NBA Draft to prepare for Jordan's decision, whether it be the part-time status or whether he retires for a third time. The Post reported that the decision likely won't come until mid-September.

i always thought Rip Hamilton was a SF, but now that i think of it, Jalen played MJ in all the Indy games (not Reggie) so he musta played SF. hee hee, Jalen got ejected for trying to piss off MJ in one of those games...:smokin:
