Arizona signs 19 draft picks

PHOENIX (AP) _ The Arizona Diamondbacks have signed contracts with 19 of the 50 players they selected in this year's June draft.
The top selection signed is fourth-round pick Lance Cormier, a right-handed pitcher from Alabama. Also signed was sixth-round pick Brian Darden, an infielder from Oregon State.
The club announced the signings on Tuesday. All of those signed were either from four-year colleges or a junior college.
Among those unsigned is first-round pick Sergio Santos, a shortstop from Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, Calif.
The others signed are: infielder Nesabett Brown (11th round) of Oklahoma State, left-handed pitcher Darren Douglas (12th round) of Augusta State, infielder Adam Haley (13th round) of Louisville, right-hander Dustin Nippert (15th round) of West Virginia, infielder Bryan Johnson (16th round) of Washington, outfielder Donnie Saba (17th round) of Utah, infielder Matthew Morgan (18th round) of Lewis-Clark State, infielder Jeffrey Stanek (20th round) of Southern Illinois-Carbondale, right-hander Jared Bonnell (23rd round) of UNLV, right-hander Matthew Incinelli (24th round) of North Florida, infielder Jeron Gates (25th round) of Washington State, left-hander Wesley Gilliam (26th round) of Illinois-Chicago, right-hander Joshua Kranawetter (27th round) of Polk, Fla., Community College, infielder Sean Luellwitz (28th round) of Vanderbilt, catcher Grady Symonds (39th round) of Hawaii, right-hander William Biggs (40th round) of West Virginia, and left-hander Keith Whatley (41st round) Houston.
